 Ju 88 G-1 of 1./NJG7

		Gentlemen,
I am looking for further information about the attached pic. According to the emblem this night fighter had belonged to the rather short-lived NJG 7, which later became IV./NJG2 resp. NSGr.30. Most likely this photo was taken at Grove, Kopenhagen-Kastrup or Vaerloese. What I would like to know if this aircraft still carried the "D9" code of NJG7 when this photo was taken (it is not visible in this low res image, but there must be a better copy), and where exactly it was captured. Any help? Cheers, Christian Image source: http://www.thescale.info/news/publis...n-Eagles.shtml |

It's from Kopenhagen-Kastrup. And this mount was D9+PH. At the time that I/NJG 7 was renamed IV//NJG 2, they were in the proces of beeing reequipped with G-6. And all Vkz. on the aircraft was changed. So this bird was simply left behind.

		Thanks Jörn,
I knew you would come up with something:) Is it know wether this Ju88 carried a Werknummer anywhere? And one more thing: According to Ketley/Rolfe the background color of the NJG7 emblem should be yellow. However, on this photo from D9+PH as well on two others from D9+OK (in a scrapyard) the color underneath the eagle appears quite dark. Orthochromatic film or just a variation of the (supposedly) yellow emblem? Cheers, Christian |

The Ketley/Rolfe book contains errors and omissions. It is also some years old now. I do not agree with the yellow background.
