FAIREY BATTLE PICTURES

6 Attachment(s)
I have posted the following group of Fairey Battle pictures for the interest of Forum members and to ask if anyone can add detail to those of the two crashed machines.

On the first there does not appear to be either national markings, squadron codes or serial number evident. Picture 2 would appear to be a German photograph – I have included the reverse as it might indicate a location?

If any Forum members have other Fairey Battle images that they might be prepared to share, I for one, would be very interested in seeing them!

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Re: FAIREY BATTLE PICTURES

Malcolm,

Picture 2 is a No.103 Squadron casualty on May 12. 1940, as follows:

Battle P2193. Shot down by flak during attack on enemy columns between Bouillon and Sedan 5.15 p.m. Crashed and burned out at Curfoz, north of Bouillon. Pilot Officer E. E. Morton and AC1 A. S. Ross killed. Aircraft a write-off.

I suspect the first picture is one of the aircraft used for night attacks - I believe the roundel is visible.

For more Battle photos (apart from Peter's book, of course) have you seen the appropriate section of the LEMB?

I am also very grateful for the link to the LEMB website. I did not know of this – looks like I will have an enjoyable time looking at all those pictures!

Kind regards, Malcolm.

Malcolm,

I have posted a few photo's on the LEMB website under the name Habicht. I am waiting for another photo of P2193 to turn in the post which you can see the serial number.
