Need info on 110 pilot
 

My father, Lt. Cecil E. Manning was shot down on March 6, 1944 by return fire from a 110G-2 flown by Uffz Rudolf Klupfelwest. Any information on this pilot would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the info. I misread the name. Klupfel makes more sense. Can you tell me what his rank abbreviation means?

Was he a pilot or a crewmember such as a rear gunner?

That is not certain, but I would assume that he was a pilot...We can say that he was not KIA that day...as far as I know...

Thank you so much for the information. This is a new development for me as that never before have I seen a name given in relation to this engagement. Iron Cross 2nd class , Destroyer Operational Clasp
One known victory, a P-51 at Lehmenge Heide on 6 March, 1944. A 2nd, a P-51 at Burg, near Magdeburg, on 8 March, 1944.
According to me he survived the war , there is no trace of him on the " Volksbund " site.
