Has anyone read this book yet? (Flight Lieutenant Anthony Noel SNELL (119146), Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve).Born Tunbridge Wells.

Shot down in Spitfire ER856 of 242 Squadron on 10 July 1943 in Sicily. Mistaken for spy, executed by firing squad, hit 5 times,escaped, recaptured, escaped to fly again.

He was accompanied by Major Peter Lewis (see obit link below) during his escape out of occupied Italy in 1943.

Hi,

the old 1950's book "Escape Or Die" by Paul Brickhill had a whole chapter on Snell and his adventures.
