Lookin for old ebay pic of an He 177
Gentlemen,
some months ago on ebay I saw a photograph of a derelict He 177 in a scrap yard at the war's end. It carried the "V4" code of KG1 and was either light-colored or very bleached. I could kick myself for not saving it when it came up for auction:mad: Can anybody please help me with this photograph? Regards, Christian |
Re: Lookin for old ebay pic of an He 177
A while ago I bought a photo of a He 177, taken in 1946. There is a civilian person in front of it, on a motorcycle. No codes are visible, I am afraid.

Thanks for looking anyway, Dénes. Maybe someone else will have a clue. There were quite some new books on the Heinkel published lately, I will take a look into them the next time I visit my local bookshop.

I've found the picture of the rear part of a derelict He.177 code +M.
I don't see the unit code but if you send me your e-mail adress I'll send it to you. Gianandrea |
Re: Lookin for old ebay pic of an He 177
Finally I found the aircraft I was looking for, it was V4+EL of 3./KG 1. A very good shot of this a/c in a dump at Linz-Hörsching can be found in Smith/Creek's book on the Heinkel He 177 (Classic 2008). I think the top photo on page 168 shows the same aircraft, but it's difficult to say for certain.
Are there any more known photos of V4+EL by chance? Regards, Christian |
