Lockheed Model 14 N. Africa, 1941 Info Needed

1 Attachment(s)
Hi;

I'm seeking information regarding a Lockheed Model 14-N3 in service with 267th Sqdn RAF in North Africa in 1941. Per "Lockheed Twins" from Air Britain, This aircraft was a Lockheed Model 14-N3 with Wright Cyclone engines. It was originally registered as NC17398 and delivered to Superior Oil in May of 1939 for use as an executive transport. Its time with Superior Oil was short, for by 1940 it was sold to the RAF via The Dept. of National Defense in Ottawa, Canada, and given the serial AX682. It was shipped to South Africa, where it was erected and then ferried across the African continent to Heliopolis, Egypt where it joined 267 Squadron RAF in 1940, operating as a transport in the North African theater. It was lost on a mission to Tobruk in April of 1941, when an engine failed and it force-landed around 10 miles from Sollum. The left main gear collapsed during the landing, and the aircraft was destroyed by gunfire, being struck off charge on May 27, 1941.

I'm building a model of this aircraft, based upon a picture I purchased on eBay (see attached.) I'm interested in any other details, photos, etc that anyone may have on this aircraft. I'd be especially interested in her mission the day she went down (April 8th, 1941) and any information or thoughts anyone might have on colors, etc. From casual observation, I'm assuming that she was painted in spinach-n-sand uppers, and Mediterranean Blue (or azure blue?) unders (note straight edge to separation.) I'm also assuming that the "G" would have been in light gray, but again any thoughts would be most welcome.

Thanks!

Paul
