No. 100 RAF Squadron Lancaster 23 March 1945
Hello,
Does anybody have information about the mission of No. 100 Sqd on 23 March 1945 to Bremen? The unit flew Lancasters and at least one Me 262 jet was claimed by a tail gunner. I tried to find information via google already and on a few websites dedicated to No. 100 Sqd but was not successful yet. Thanks, Roger |
Re: No. 100 RAF Squadron Lancaster 23 March 1945
There seems to be not much information around. If nobody knows anything particular about this mission of No. 100 Squadron, could anybody tell me in what archive mission documents could be found?
I would like to research this mission but don't know where to look for documents such as mission debriefings, combat reports, etc. Any lead is much appreciated. Regards, Roger |
Re: No. 100 RAF Squadron Lancaster 23 March 1945
Hi Roger,
There are no 100 Sqn Combat Reports from 1945 in the National Archives (Dokuments online). I will check the series for the ORB later today. Regards Peter |

Hi Peter,
Thanks a lot for the info. What is ORB? Kind regards, Roger |
Re: No. 100 RAF Squadron Lancaster 23 March 1945
Roger,
ORB is the Operational Record Book. The ORB of 100 Sqn for Jan to Dec 1945 has the serial number AIR27/798 at the National Archives at Kew (www.nationalarchives.gov.uk). You can request an estimated price for a copy for the actual date or use the help of Bruce Dennis (http://www.filephotoservice.co.uk/). He is a member of this forum. Observe you can probably find information both in Form 540 monthly summarise and Form 541 record of daily operations. Peter |
