Re: Photos 11-11
Thanks very much Ed for you (ongoing) effort to provide us with these interesting links.
Maybe I'm wrong but I can't remember seeing this emblem before. Anyone has some more info about it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=390115789854 Regards, Rudi. |
Re: Photos 11-11
Dear Ed,
Thanks again for your excellent picture selection. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ht_3558wt_1165 This one caught specially my attention. The US personnel sitting in the cockpit of the Bf 109 G-10 (note the "D" painted atop the DB 605D engine) is set against a pile of Bf 109 unfinished fuselages which strongly reminds me of this picture, posed by WW2vet on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/4036184...38498/sizes/o/ This second pic was discussed in this thread: http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/showthread.php?t=17708 According also to other pics published by Hideki Nori in his excellent book "LO+ST", the location could be Wertheim. The time frame for those two pics can be quite precisely put in autumn 45 or winter 45 - 46, judging by the leafless trees. Maybe thus another piece of information to add regarding this still to be identified assembly line which was run in a tunnel, apparently quite close to Wertheim... For an alternate location close to the Bodenwöhr forest assembly line (Waldwek), see also the new tread over at LEMB: http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...howtopic=9330& Cheers Marc |

Odds are yourenot drunk today ;-))) as I can also see the tell tale supercharger with bulged engine bearer! As for the usual politcally correct blindness, I managed to overturn it by checking directly all items sold by joescollectibles on e-pay. There you can see all pics on a preview mode, with no restriction .-)))))))))))))). For your convenience, here is a direct link: http://shop.ebay.com/joescollectible...d=p3911.c0.m14 Cheers Marc |

Re: Photos 11-11
For me too! Houuraayyy!!!
As for the Waldwerk assembly line question, check again over at LEMB, Matthias provides a wealth of new informations and a great picture taken in December 1944 at Cham - Michelsdorf, showing a wingless BF 109 G-10 or K-4 parked outside a restaurant in the old town... Lovely! http://www.luftwaffe-experten.org/fo...61&#entry49861 Cheers Marc |
