A check of the German War Graves site would have told you he was killed and is buried at Champigny

3./JG54 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4. Believed shot down in combat with No. 17 Squadron Hurricanes near Évreux during bomber escort sortie 3.30 p.m. FF Lt Hans-Eberhard Angeli killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.
