Collision of Bf 109 G-2 13619 and 14573

Hello, I have a source saying both these aircraft of JGr. Ost collided near Saintes, France, on 15 Nov 1943 and Uffz Karl Witt died in WNr 13619 that was a 100% loss. I have no more data on the WNr 14573 aircraft or its pilot.

When I check Volksbund database, these is no Witt listed for 15 November, but an Uffz Karl-Heinz Witt died near Saintes four days before (on the 11th) and is buried in Berneuil. He was twenty, so the good age to be a fighter pilot under training.

I would like to know which date is right, and also as a bonus the usual details for WNr 14573.

Thanks in advance

Laurent

Laurent,

The Luft Qm's returns dated 18-11-43 lists the collision as happening on 15-11-43 by Saintes. Both 109's are shown as G-2's 13619 as 100% with Uffz Karl Witt killed and 14573 is shown as 70% with no pilot details,

Thanks Brian, it confirms what I had (an indirect source citing Qm).

So the discrepancy is confirmed, and as the other pilot survived, no possibility to check Volksbund again.

I will try to find what local lore says of this accident, if anything.

Thanks

Laurent
