Ju 88 G ID Help

I am trying to identify a Ju 88 G. The last three digits of the werk number appear to be 283. The codes are partially obscured. From what I can see, the aircraft is coded 3C+A with only a portion of the last letter visible. However, the last letter is likely an R.

Can anyone provide any information about this NJG 4 aircraft?

Thanks in advance,

Mark Proulx

Hi Mark!

Possible to get a scan of the pic? Maybe it`s easier to identify the plane with a pic.

Cheers, Simon

I can only agree with Simon's request. If you have a picture, just show it here!. There is a likely candidate.

Ju 88G-1, WNr. unknown, 3C+AR, crashed on 7.10.44 at 22.00 hrs 4 miles east of Maastricht. Belonged to 7./NJG 4. Crew, with Ogfr. Erich Büchner as pilot became POW. Loss record says 6.10.44 but this is probably incorrect. See als POW report ADI(K) No.569/1944 and Crashed Enemy Aircraft Report No. 260. If werknummer ended with 283 then the total number is more than likely either, 710283, 711283, 712283 or 714283.

Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately, I don't own the copyright for the photos and I don't have the owners permission to post them.

After closer examination, the aircraft does appear to be a Ju 88 G-1. Does that help?

Also, is there an Internet source for Luftwaffe loss reports?

Mark,

I was going to suggest Ju 88 G-6 3C+AP of 6./II./NJG 4 found post-war at Fårhus (Schafhaus), Denmark (N of Flensburg, Germany). But since you say it looks like a "G-1" I guess it wouldn't fit.

Whoops, lazy digits! I should have typed 3C+AR.
