II./KG51 JU-88A Shot Down 11-April-1941 Info Needed on Crew.

Hello Richard

11 April 1941: Ju 88 "9K+LP" (W.Nr. 8201) of II./KG 51 flown by Oberleutnant Helmut Westen (F), Hauptmann Jürgen Berlin (B), Feldwebel Heinrich Langlotz (Bf) and Unteroffizier Wilhelm Vossen (Bm), lost due to unknown causes at Banja-Luca, 100%.

Langlotz is listed as killed and the rest are listed as missing. Could this be the aircraft and crew that you are interested in?

Horrido!

Leo

II./KG51 JU-88A Shot Down 11-April-1941 Info Needed on Crew.

Hello Leo

Thank you very much indeed for taking the time to post the information concerning the JU-88 A lost on 11-April-1941 from III./KG51.

Unfortunatly this appears not to be the crew which I seek and now I will have to spread the net and search a little deeper.

I am looking to discover anything at all on Leutnant Helmut Saure (Beobachter) killed on 11-April-1941. His remains were never recovered and he is listed on a memorial in Greece. I have some of his documents from his service time in III./KG4 and am trying to establish some further details about him, in particular his unit and crew at time of his death.

All help really will be very well received.

Regards Richard.

I have note this Ju 88 A-5 may have been downed by RAF 33 SQ Hurricane (Sq/Ldr. Pattle) at / near Volos Harbour.

(Ref: in Hajo Herrmann: "Eagle Wings" P.121 - also in Shores, Cull & Malizia: "Air War for Yugoslavia, Greece and Crete 1940-41" P.239)
