Seems to hv crash on aug. 1940 , first as MIA quoted then seems to hv returned, with quick tour to the usual Marine-lazarett Hardinghem, which date ??

According to Prien et al JFV 4/II, Oeltjen was involved as follows:

16.08.40 verl. Absturz Start, Guines-Süd, 100% Bf 109 E-4

Remi,

Both losses on August 16, 1940, as follows:

7./JG54 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4. Crashed during test flight following repairs, cause not stated. FF Fw Fritz Oeltjen slightly injured - admitted to hospital in Hardinghen. Aircraft 100% write-off.

9./JG54 Messerschmitt Bf109E-4. Returned badly damaged following combat with Spitfires of No.266 Squadron off Calais 12.13 p.m. FF Uffz Gustav Kuhlmann badly wounded in right arm and shoulder - admitted to hospital in Guines where died August 28. Aircraft 100% write-off.
