Sonderstaffel Gamringer
 

Hello,

under Luftflotte 6 operated between September 1 1943 and Summer 1944 this unit. It should have strength of 12 planes, type Ar 66, Ju 87 and Bf 109 and this unit was used to fight Soviet Partisans in territory of Belarus. Does somebody know more about Sonderstaffel Gamringer?

Sonderstaffel Gamringer is covered on page 369 of volume 2 of our Dive-Bomber and Ground-Attack Units of the Luftwaffe, 1933-1945. Volume 1 was just published by Ian Allan last month and volume 2 is scheduled for publication in spring 2010.

We concluded that Sonderstaffel Gamringer was simply the tactical name for one of the Staffeln belonging to Störkampfgruppe Luftflotte 6. Unfortunately, we were unable to identify the specific Staffel due to the paucity of surviving documentation. The Staffelkapitän was Hptm./Major Johann Gamringer.

Well, I guess so. Maybe it could be mix Ar 66 and Ju 87 of 4./Störkampfgruppe/Luftflotte 6 and Bf 109 of NAGr. 12. Any other mention?
