Standard ceremony for Luftwaffe burials?
 

my dear friends,

I would like to order chronologically nine pictures from a burial of 2 Luftwaffe soldiers. Now I am wondering whether there was a standard ceremony or protocol for Luftwaffe burials like the RAF has for their deceased?

arrival coffins - speech priest - music - speech unit commander - salute shots firing squad - fare well at the grave ?

Who can shed a light in this subject? I never have read anything about it.

Just my guess...

I believe that official burial ceremonies may be almost equal in any military force and their protocol have not changed over the years... My opinion is that WW II Luftwaffe ceremonies took place like present day ones...

Thanks for your fast reply! I do presume the same but I am still hoping that someone comes up with a sort of Dienstvorschrift (written standard procedure) and gives EXACTLY the order how one had to be buried...

Hello Marcel,

This is a good question. Although I don't have an exact answer either maybe this might point you toward some answers. I have seen for sale Luftwaffe handbooks with all the rules and information that the airmen needed. Perhaps one of these might contain the format for a burial.

Many thanks for helping me in the right direction! There are a lot of L.Dv.´s that could help us airfield historians to understand procedures on or near "our" airfield during the war. I will keep on searching!
