Losses Exeter Apr 41
On the nights 3-4 and 5-6 Apr 41, Exeter was attacked and each time, a Wellington destroyed. Again, any details on these 2 losses?

Re: Losses Exeter Apr 41
Hello Chris and Jerry,
This might be one of them. L4252 149/GRU - Lost 4.4.41. NFD From AB L1000 to N9999 From "Action Stations No.5" page 84 "The airfield was visited five times by the Luftwaffe during the early part of the year, the worst raid being on April 5th when a low-level attack by three bombers wrecked the main hanger, damaged 16 aircraft and burnt out a Welington." From "Devon and Cornwall Airfields in the Second World War" by Graham Smith page 118 "It was first bombed on 21st August 1940. Then in the following April no fewer than eight raids were recorded, the heaviest on 5th April when a hanger was damaged along with sixteen aircraft". Alex |
