170 Sqdn Lancaster PB573 21/22 feb 1945

Hi All,

I'm trying to locate the crashlocation of Lancaster PB573 of 170 Sqdn flown by F/Lt. M.A. Coderre. The a/c was hit by flak, and attacked by a nightfighter on the way home from Duisburg, somewhere between Venlo and Weert in the Netherlands. Coderre parachuted to savety and landed close to a farm near Weert. Three of the crew where wounded and taken care of in Dutch hospitals. The tailgunner is still mia.

Does anyone know where the (remains of the) lancaster came down.
The route from Venlo to Weert is south west. Maybe Belgium is an option?

Tia

Liberation Reports filed by returning PoW's may provide some details of crash location. I rather suspect that more may be forthcoming from local sources in Belgium or Holland after the Germans had left.
As F/L Coderre and F/S Paterson were RCAF it may be possible to obtain their Service Records which could detail crash site, especially if an MREU Report was filed.
