Here are the Natters

On another thread, there is a photo of a man holding a parachute for the rear portion of a Natter. Here is a film that appears to have been taken at the same location, apparently Austria.

I love the chute deployment assist - it looks like a mattress spring!

Re: Here are the Natters

If I recall correctly, a simple spring was the launch mechanism for each warhead on a Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicle bus/platform.

Hi Ed,
As indicated elsewhere, the man in white shirt isn't an american scientist but Eric Bachem himself. Film taken in Austrian Tyroll with a 100% chance to be Jenbach NS-Center facilities.
Franck.
Edit: More precisely, following Dr. Heim comments this site is situated between Jenbach (Heinkel plants) and Kramsach (The missile test site).

I would very much like to know more about this Jenbach NS Center.

Re: Here are the Natters

According to Brett Gooden:"Projekt Natter" four Ba 349s were found May 5, 1945 at a DFS-run airfield close to St.Leonhard, Pitztal, Austria. The man in the shirt is thought to be Ing.-Dr. Heinz Rieck of the DFS.
