After some more browsing I found that 41-6335 had a name: ' El Jeepo'.
See serial number on the tail of the plane. Name is based on the character Eugene the Jeep from the Popeye & Olive Oyl cartoon. The Jeep is painted on a shiled on both sides of the plane. On the picture the marking is HL-B, at the time of the crash it was HL-A. The website of the 78 FG mentions J.H. Johnson was POW. He must have survived the crash. |
