Soviet Su-12

Does anyone have details on the Su-12 ?

How many were produced and what areas were they put into combat ?

Did any see action or service in the Baltic region ?

Reason for questions are in the main due to Finn pilots claims for P38's.

Could they have come against the Su-12 ?

Su-12 (another name - "RK") was a post-war Soviet FW-189 "Improved Clone" built in December 1947 and never put into combat. There was no serial production, only one prototype (but may be 2-3 ?) was built and tested.

Su-12 reply

Hello MB,

Thank you for the info.

Had not seen ref to an Su-12 before.

Saw in a modeling mag that there is one due out in 1/72nd scale from MSV an all silver a/c shown on box cover and has radial engines, also has four bladed props.

Does look like the earlier Luftwaffe a/c so had thought that this may have fitted the bill for those P38 Lightning claims.

Ah well

thanks again

Alex
