David Williams re: Hermann Greiner

David,

The recent postings regarding Hermann Greiner resulted in me noting that I have never seen any photos or specific information regarding any of the aircraft he used in combat. The photos in your book Hunters of the Reich: Night Fighter show only nose views of Greiner's Bf 110s - no codes, no tail victory bars to be seen.

If Herr Greiner still has his logbook, are the codes of the aircraft he flew while scoring his victories noted? Are there any photos extant showing details of his "personal" aircraft?

Regards,

Tom Semenza

Re: David Williams re: Hermann Greiner

Tom,

As far as i am aware there are no photographs of Georg's aircraft only those that were in the book. I have certainly never seen any others and Georg only had a very limited number of personal photographs, as he had given most of them away during the 1960s and 70s.

I have a copy of his first log book, which covers his training and his first 3 or 4 victories. It does contain details of their codings. his second log book was lost many years ago and i have never seen it.

Cheers,

David.

David,

Many thanks for your response, although a bit disappointing. Would it be possible for you to share with us the codes on the aircraft he used to gain those initial victories.

Cheers,

Tom
