8/KG 4 Crash-landings at Schiphol

Can anyone with access to Ab Jansen's book confirm any crash-landings of Ju 88s of 8/KG 4 (later 8/KG 30) at Schiphol prior to 26 Jan 41?

Chris,

At 40-08-26 Ju 88A-1 WNr. 3149 of 8./KG 4 flown by Oblt. R.Meissner collided with the Ju 88 of Oblt. Wimmer also from 8./KG 4 at the runway. Meissner and his crew were killed. See page 246 of Fliegerhorst Schiphol, part I by Ab A. Jansen.
Further crash landings at Schiphol-Amsterdam of 8./KG 4 or 8./KG 30 before January 26, 1941 I have not seen.
I will check a crashlanding of Storp in June, 1940 at Schiphol.

Re: 8/KG 4 Crash-landings at Schiphol

Thanks Jaap. I have a photo of a Ju 88 of 8/KG 4 (or 8/KG 30) at an airfield taken by a 9/KG 30 crewman before he was taken POW in Jan 41 (he had been taken POW first time on 10 May 40). I have 2 photos of this unmarked crash-landed Ju 88 taken in June 40 which looks to be Storp's. Any mentions in the book of Bf 110s crash-landing at Schiphol prior to Jan 41?

Chris,

I have checked our Losslist, and as far I have seen now there have been no crashes at Schiphol with more then 60% Bruch of Bf 110s before Jan. 1941. Will check Ab's book later.

Hello Chris and Jaap,

I have Hptm Walter Storp of 8./KG 4 (z.Zt. stellv. Kdr.) at Schiphol on 3 June 1940 - wia due to Bruchlandung. Aircraft damaged by ballon. Alas no more details relating to the plane involved.

Best regards,
Rob

Re: 8/KG 4 Crash-landings at Schiphol

Chris,

I think I have found it.
Fliegerhorst Schiphol, part 1, page 181.
Ab gives as source: BA/MA RL 21/222 KTB 1 Fl.H.Kdtr. L 9/I Schiphol-Amsterdam (01.07.40 - 11.09.40).
"At August 13th, 1940 4 Me 110's of III./ZG 23 have made an emergency landing at the airfield Java near dry-dock in Amsterdam North. One plane went nose-over. The maschine is defect. Crew hurt. Three of the a/c are at Schiphol airport. The plane has been salvaged by the Fl.H.Kdtr."
Two remarks from my side. ZG 23 must be a typo. Should be ZG 26, I think.
At the same page in his book Ab talks about the recce unit 4.(H.) 23.
Second remark, the Java airfield is the former Dutch M.L. emergency airfield Buiksloot.
Problem solved?

Jaap
