Gunther Toll

Hi guys

Does anybody know what happened to this pilot. I beleive he survived the war with at least thirty-nine confirmed claims. He starts off with seven in the West with 7./Jg2, then thirty-one in the East with 7./Jg52 before being wounded on 7th July 1943. But he returns in 1945 with III./Jg52 and makes a kill on 26th March 1945. Does anybody have a D.O.B or D.O.D for him?

Regards

Johannes

Re: Gunther Toll

A check of our files revealed nothing about this fellow ( he apparently never held a command) BUT the Tom Kracker Archive has plenty to say. Apparently he considers this to be two people but it is apparent to me that this the same person.

His 3rd, a Spitfire on 4 June, 1942. His 4th, a Spitfire on 6 June, 1942. His 5th, a Spitfire on 24 June, 1942. His 6th, a Spitfire on 24 July, 1942. This Günther Toll is most likely the one later in JG-52. His 7th, a Spitfire at Map Quadrant o5 East S/11/5/1 on 16 September, 1942. His 8th, a Spitfire on 8 November, 1942. Note: a Günther Toll 1st appeared on the OKL list on 27 January, 1943 in 7/JG-52 as a Fw, and his victory was posted to a G. Toll, 49 vics, of 7/JG-52.

Toll, GüntherOfw., 49 kills, 2/JG-52, 7/JG-52 (1/43 S.U.)Bf 109F, Bf 109G-4 Werk # 19290 (combat dam. 7/7/43)DK-G(8/16/43), EP, EK 1 & 2, Wound Badge, Fighter Operational ClaspWIA 7 July, 1943 during aerial combat (DK-G Awards List). Magnus suggests the date as 7 April, 1943. His first known Soviet victory, a MiG-1 on 27 January, 1943. A Low-flying R-5 on 31 January, 1943. A MiG-1 and an I-153 on 1 February, 1943. His 14th to 17th victories, three LaGG's and a Spitfire on 27 May, 1943. His 18th, a LaGG on 28 May, 1943. Nos. 19 & 20, a LaGG and an Il-2 on 29 May, 1943. An Il-2 and a LaGG on 30 May, 1943. A LaGG on 8 June, 1943. Four LaGG's and an Il-2 on 5 July, 1943. This does not appear to be the G. Toll in JG-2. Alternate spelling; Töll.

This is a little hard to decipher but looking at the web page might be clearer.

Good Luck
