Missions of TG or KGrzbV.
hallo everybody
Who can help me? In which book(s) I can find the losses of TG or KGrzbV. by their missions over Crete, Stalingrad, Cholm, Demjansk, Breslau and Budapest? Regards Karsten |
Re: Missions of TG or KGrzbV.
There is no book that lists losses for all transport units but some are mentioned in detail in “Battle of France, Then and Now” by Peter Cornwell.
As it happens, Larry deZeng and myself have been developing a book about Transport Unit Histories of the Luftwaffe, and as a byproduct we have scrounged up a lot of detail. At this point in time we are quite a ways from getting this published, but I can tell you that if you want loss statistics your best bet is to visit: www.ww2.dk and look under Transport units. Go to the bottom of the page for each unit and look at: “Flugzeugbestand und Bewegungsmeldungen”. This will bring up a table of month by month losses and inventory statistics per Gruppe. This is a very informative feature. Apart from that, you might have to resort to looking through the microfilms of loss reports: RL 2 III Gen.Qu. (6. Abt.) Meldungen über Flugzeugunfälle und Verluste. I hope that this helps DGS |
Re: Missions of TG or KGrzbV.
You'll find some data in Fritz Morzik's work for the USAF :
http://www.afhra.af.mil/studies/numb...ies151-200.asp The study about German air transport operations is N° 167 on the above webpage. I hope that this may help you. |
Re: Missions of TG or KGrzbV.
That is a great link, thanks. I have just obtained a wehrpass & 3 licenses to an Unteroffizier who flew on Ju-52's during the Crete invasion, resupplying the Stalingrad Kessel and resupplying the 'Invasion Front' in June 1944 so those files will be a great help when it comes to writing up the airmans story.
Book wise, the only two Transport books I have been able to obtain are the 2 volumes published by Classic Publications.. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Luftwaffe-Tr...0&sr=1-1-spell http://www.amazon.co.uk/Transporter-...0&sr=1-2-spell ...which while ok for what they are don't provide any detailed losses. |
