613 Squadron - Mosquito codes

Hi all,

First posting on this Forum.

Could anybody point me in the right direction to obtain the Squadron codes for 613s Mosquitos, especially when operating from Lasham.

regards

Mike

Hello Mike,

Welcome to the forum.

'Combat Codes' - Flintham/Thomas gives 613 Squadron code as SY when operating with the Mosquito VI between November 1943 and August 1945.

Regards
Peter

Hi Larry and Peter,

many thanks for your replies. I knew the Squadron code, it was the individual aircraft codes that I am seeking, as stated for the aircraft in the postings regarding the Copenhagen raid.

It is quite a while since I was involved with aircraft (my main hobby is model railway locomotive construction in 7mm/ft scale) I had started a project on Mosquito production some ten years ago when I was recovering from hip replacement surgery and having now retired, I feel I have the time to rekindle the 'Mossie urge'.

regards

Mike

Re: 613 Squadron - Mosquito codes

Fighter Squadrons of the RAF gives 15 serials, with codes against 6 of these
HP927 B
HP930 D
LR364 E
LR370 Y
NS845 E
NS859 P

You can try visiting the National Archives at Kew, and studying their files. Or just look for books on the subject, wherever you can find them, in the hope of odd photos or profiles. There are a lot of Mosquito books, and works on 2 TAF, that would be the best places to start. You will however tend to find the same photos and the same profiles repeated.
