Battle P2201, lost 20-4-1940.
 

Hallo all,

This Fairey Battle of 218 Squadron RAF was shot down by Oberfw. Schmale of 12.(N)/JG 2 north of Crailsheim, Germany for the first night fighting victory of the Luftwaffe. Two of the crew were killed and the pilot became a POW.

Does anyone have, or know of, photos of the shot down P2201 ?
I am especially keen to learn what type of terrain it crashed on and how intact was the wreck.

I imagine many photos must have been taken of it due to its status as the first night fighting victory. It must also have featured in local and national German newspapers after that date ?

Any help will be much appreciated.
