The poor old Fairey Battles really took a thumping during the Battle of France, as depicted in your last 2 photos. I guess there are so many photos of them because they were attacking the spearheads of the German advance, and so provided following troops many opportunities for pictures of the "vanquished" enemy.

Another great selection! Fairey Battles yet again. The Do 17 fusalage photo http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...tem=6195800324 is of an aircraft of 1.(F)/124 (given that the aircraft letter is likely to have been in white). The full code would then have been G2+DH. I note from Rosch p30 that he records a number of Do 215Bs attributed to this unit and a couple of early Do 17s. Can anyone match a loss to this code? |
