Loss of Hptm Ibold, Kdr II/KG 54, on 2 February 1943

Hello,

I would like to have the usual details (WNr, crew, loss location) of the Ju 88 in which Hptm Franz Ibold, Gruppen Kdr of II/KG 54, was lost in the morning of 2 February 1943.

Thanks in advance.

Laurent

Hauptmann Franz Ibold

Hello Laurent

2 February 1943: Ju 88 A-4 (W.Nr. 141 049) of III./KG 54 flown by Hauptmann Franz Ibold (F), Oberfeldwebel Karl Mash (B), Oberfeldwebel Karl Braunhoff (Bf) and Feldwebel Heinz Krüger (Bm), all killed, fighter fire, Pl.Qu. 0817/13 Ost, 100%

Please note that I might have interpreted the surname of the Beobachter and perhaps even others wrongly as the source is difficult to read.

Horrido!

Leo

As far as I know these are the correct names: Mach, Karl & Braunnhoff, Karl. Braunnhoff was a member of 9./KG54.

The plane's tactical code was B3+AD. It's mission was to escort the convoy "Paselli" nord of the Gulf of Tunis. The plane was attacked by a Lightning and went down burning. It exploded on impact with the see.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Rudi.

Oops, my mistake. You're right Andreas. It's indeed Brannhoff according to the VDK.

Regards,
Rudi.
