No 123 Staging Post RAF 1945
I am hoping to obtain information concerning the movements of 123 Staging Post after it moved to the Continent from England in 1945. I know it eventually was based in Denmark (Kastrup airfield) in December, 1945 but believe it moved there from Twente in Holland. Can anyone help with dates etc? I am compiling a collection of RAF Postal History especially during WW2 and this have 2 envelopes sent from 123 Staging Post - September and December 1945. I know from the postmark the December one is from Denmark.
Many thanks. Raffian |

This link might help http://www.robertpeel.eu/kastrup.htm I have contributed to this site in the past as my father was there from just after VE-Day with 125 Wing - then returned when 125 Wing disbanded in July '45 and served with 122 Wing. According to RAF Flying Training & Support Units by Ray Sturtivant etc. No. 123 (Major) Staging Post was formed 5.9.44 at Blakehill Farm in No. 46 Group. 5.12.44 Perranporth, 23.4.45 Boreham (advance party B.160 Kastrup 12.5.45), 1.6.45 Kastrup, disbanded into RAF Kastrup 22.10.45, finally closed 1.4.46 Hope it helps? cheers Allan |

Thanks for the info on 120 SP at Twente - raffian does not seem to have read any of our messages yet, or if he has he hasn't acknowledged them!! B.95 Teuge is a new one to me - 657 AOP squadron were there with Auster V's according to Jeffords - I see that it is near to Deventer from a google search, and is big enough to have a website http://www.teuge-airport.nl/ By the way - my father passed away on 17 February (aged 88), thank you for the help you provided for my 125 Wing project. I have now retrieved all the project paperwork (with his little scribbled notes on) that I passed to him. kind regards Allan |
Re: No 123 Staging Post RAF 1945
Allan,
Sorry to hear about your father. My condolances. For our book:"Vliegvelden in oorlogstijd" or "Airfields during wartime", I have researched as many as AOP "airfields" as possible. And Teuge is very special to me. I have been living in Apeldoorn for about nine years, between 1967 and 1976 and went by bike with my children to Teuge at Sundaymorning. Jaap |
