Bohimir Fürst

After having claimed a victory with GC II/2 in France, in May 1940, he became a Sergeant with 310 Sqn.
Does anyone know what was his ultimate fate?

TIA.

Chris

Re: Bohimir Fürst

ask this guy or search his web:
http://cz-raf.hyperlink.cz/

I have just this:
Bohumir Fu%rst
* 1909
+ 1978
310 sqn 6.8.1940 - 18.10.1940 as Sgt.
605 sqn 18.10.1940 - 28.10.1940 as Sgt.

Bohumír Fürst survived the war and died on January 2, 1978 in Czechoslovakia in a town called Ledeč nad Sázavou. Apart from his victories in France he also claimed 4-0-0 with 310. Sq. and also served with 605.Sq. He was then posted to several training units as instructor. At the and of the war he served with Transport Command (510.Sq.). At the time of his death he was 68 years old.

Just a slight ammendement to Jan's posting. According to Shores in Those Other Eagles Fürst's claims with 310 Sqn. in Sept. 1940 were 3 destroyed and 1 probable. He also had a shared probable with GC II/2 in May 1940.

Bohumír Fürst was credited with 1 air victory during Battle of France and 4 victories when he served in UK.

Fürst was Flying Instructor in pre-war Czechoslovak Air Force and flew approximately 1600 flying hours before WW2.

In France he served from May 10 until May 17 1940 in Patrouille DAT Chateaudon (EAA 301), from May 18 until June 21 1940 in GC II/2.

He is credited with victory over Hs 126 in Area Laon-Soissons at 17.15 o´clock on May 19 1940. Hs 126 of 2.(H)/23 was shot down by Bellecourt, Lt. Hundt injured.

Fürst was shot down on May 21 1940 probably by Bf 109s of III./JG 53 in MS-406 No. 390 nearby chateau Verneuil-en-Halatte. Shortly before being forced landed he was credited together with Cne Baudoin de Callonne and Adj Maurice Pollono with probably victory over Do 17. In fact German Bomber of III./KG 2 was only slightly damaged (5 %) with one crew heavily injured (Ofw. A. Baatz) and safely landed in base.
