Rumanian Bf110 pilot Boris Capbatut
 

Hi guys

I have a note that Rumanian Bf110 pilot Boris Capbatut was shot down by friendly fire in mistake for a P-38.

Any details would be appreciated, please

Slt. av. Boris Capbatut's Bf 110 was shot down, in error, by an I.A.R. 80 on 5 April 1944 - the second USAAF air raid of 1944.

According to JL Roba & C Crãciunoiu in
"La chasse de nuit germano-roumaine" P.39 :

12./NJG 6
S/Lt Boris Capbatut (bailed out)
Adjudant Popa ( killed when hitting the fin after bailing out );

IAR pilot given as Lt Barbic.

Romanians bought 12 Bf 110C in May 1943, gradually replaced from end-1943 by Bf 110F.
Capbatut 110 is given as a F, as another ( Wr 4511 ) of 12./NJG 6 crash-landed the same day.
