Dornier 17 losses 5.8.40

On this day III/KG3 suffered the loss of at least a dozen aircrew to non- combat operations at Schweinfert and nr to Meinberg.
Does anybody have the loss details, or crewnames?

Any help would be appreciated,

Best regs,
Steve.

Steve,

All I have is as follows:

9./KG3 Dornier Do17Z. Crashed and exploded at Mainberg, near Schweinfurt, while low-flying during air-to-ground firing practice 10.10 a.m. FF Uffz Heinrich Schneider, HB Fw Hans Petrawa, BF Uffz Gerhard Weib, and Uffz Heinrich Pierschel (Waffenenwart) all killed. Aircraft 100% write-off.

Good morning Peter, much appreciated.
I believe the information you gave refers to the third a/c i have, as lost this day, so this is probably a duplicate loss.

The other loss for the 5.8.40 i have is for the following:
7/KG3 Do17Z Failed to return from ops, cause unknown Oblt Ullrich and 3 men missing.
Anything on this chap Peter?

Kindest regs,
Steve.

Steve,

I also concluded that there is a duplication in the QMG Returns for the 9./KG3 loss on August 5. The loss of ULLRICH occurred the following day; August 6, 1940:

9./KG3 Dornier Do17Z. Shot down by Yellow Section of No.85 Squadron (F/Sgt G. Allard, Sgt J.H.M. Ellis, and Sgt W.R. Evans) during armed-reconnaissance sortie between Cromer and Harwich and crashed in sea 20 miles east of Lowestoft 6.30 a.m. FF Oberlt Karl Ullrich, HB Fw Kurt Widera (of 7./KG3), BF Uffz Fritz Weib, and BS Gefr Willi Berg all missing. Aircraft 100% write-off.

5.8.40 - we need some date rules here - maybe already established and I may have missed it, but May-8-1940 or 5-Aug-40?

thenelm, since my post was answered and understood perfectly by Peter,
i cant understand what the problem is.

Any other variations would be perhaps used or written in the USA, where i dont live.

Steve.
