F/Sgt. Steward E. Norman

Hello Normandy, http://forum.12oclockhigh.net/images/icons/icon10.gif

Do you have information on the F / Sgt. Stewart E. Norman, wireless operator on Mitchel II 208/3321 226 Sqn. 137th Wing of the RAF shot down in the night of August 17, 1944 to Breteuil sur Iton?
He parachutes. Has he been killed? Has he been captured? Apparently it has not been taken over by the resistance! Has he survived the war?

Thank you for your help

'2nd Tactical Air Force' - Shores/Thomas gives the following......

18 August 1944. (Approx 0300 hrs)

226 Squadron
Mitchell II FV989

F/S. R A. Brett. Killed
F/S. C K. Sherwin. Evaded
Sgt. N E. Stuart. Evaded
F/S. J A. Bate. Killed

Failed to return flare dropping River Risie.

Sgt. Stuart is not listed on the CWGC 'Debt Of Honour Register' seems he survived the war.

Hello Peter

The P / Off. Robert A. Brett and F / Sgt. James A. Batt died during the crash of Mitchell II.
Gordon Erwing is taken over by the local resistance and then joined his country.
Stewart E. Norman parachutes and no news? What happened to him?

Thank you and more,

Re: F/Sgt. Steward E. Norman

Was it Stewart E. NORMAN or Norman E. STUART, who evaded.
Regards,
Henk.

Neither. According to "RAF Evaders" by Oliver Clutton-Brock it was R/112528 Sgt. N.E. Stewart. The website http://www.conscript-heroes.com/MI9-05.html confirms his first name as "Norman".
