Ju 88, Wn.7117 of 4./KG 77 4th may 1941
 

Hi Guys,

Can anyone provide me with the crew, functions and their whereabouts.
This Ju 88 came down in the North Sea near Texel on 4th may 1941.

One of the crew is Uffz. Ernst Grach, born 29 july 1917, buried Ysselsteyn grave BQ-6-143

Ju 88 7117 3Z+FP is listed missing 05.05.41 and had other crew names.

Uffz. Ernst Grach does not show in my Ju 88 listings at all.

You've got me confused.
Was Ju 88 7117 lost in the night of 4/5 may 1941?
Have you got any idea as to where this a/c was lost?

In the meantime I'm trying to find out the whereabouts of Uffz. Ernst Grach.

Hi Bas,

Uffz Ernst Grach was a crew member of Ju 88A-5 Wnr 8096. The Ju 88 was damaged either by ack-ack or by nightfighters and Uffz Grach bailed out over the Channel near the Isle of Whight. The Ju 88 managed to return and made a crash landing near Rheims and was damaged for 30%.

The body of Uffz Grach washed ashore on 6th August 1941 near beach pole 10 on the Isle of Texel and was buried the next day at Den Burg cemetery.

I would be interested to learm too the names of the other crew members and perhaps somebody has also a individual code of this Junkers on file?

Ju 88 A-1 8096 had code 3Z+KH at Rheims in autumn 1940, when in fitment of longer wings (becoming A-5). It was with I/KG 77 on 05.05.41 in my listings.

It (GH+EA) "survived" largely intact to be captured by US Troops (possibly spring 1945). Photos of it (from Jim Crow collection) are in Kagero "Ju 88" Vol. II, p. 60 & 61. It has adress, possibly "Fernruf Mirow 231" (Rechlin?) on fin (possibly somene can confirm its final assignment by it).
