West Raynham Shrapnel and RAF Bomber Command

Hello,
I was given, as a young lad several bits of Shrapnel from a German bomb dropped on West Raynham in 1940, I think during the Battle of Britain.

The man who gave them to me was a Mr Bircher from Gloucester who was Aircrew with Bomber Command through the war. He said that bomb blew him through a hanger window.

Sadly being just a young lad, I did not ask him what Squadron he was with at the time and now would love to research his career, sadly he died late 1980's

Does anyone know what bomber Squadrons were at West Raynham during 1940? Might have been Blenheims as he also gave me a small part of aircraft skin with a German 7.92 bullet hole through it.

Cheers

No 101 Squadron was flying Blenheims out of RAF West Raynham in 1940

Thanks for that info, it ties in with the shrapnel and what I remember.
I dont suppose anyone can pin a Sgt Eddie Bircher down to operating with 101 in 1940?
