looking for assistance

Hi,

I had a family member who was a pilot in the Luftwaffe and I'm looking for assistance on research. I have no idea what he flew, I just have a few studio pictures of him in uniform wearing his pilot badge. I have contacted the DD WASt in regards to him how ever because he's an Uncle, I don't have the leagle rights to his military history. Are there any other agencies I can contact to gather info on him? He survived the war so the Volksbund can't assist me.

Thanks,

Chris

Chris, hallo!

What was his name and what was his military rank?

Thanks for your response,

His name was Hansi Grosche, born in Velbert (Langenberg) North Rhine-Westphalia. I'm not sure what his final rank was, how ever in the pictures I have he was at least an Unteroffizier.

His service records should be filed at the Bundesarchiv/Militärarchiv.

Thanks,

I was thinking about that, any idea on how much the cost is to have some one's military history searched at the Bundesarchiv/Militärarchiv? Here's one of the pictures I have of him, this one he with his one brother. They had two other brothers who served, how ever not in the Luftwaffe.

Thanks,

Chris

The one on the left (Uncle Walter) from what my Oma says, he was in the Panzer branch of the Luftwaffe and served in Africa, how ever to me his uniform does not resemble a uniform from that branch unless I'm mistaking. As for his final rank, I'm not sure, I have another picture of him as Gefreiter that's it.

Now for Uncle Hansi (Pilot) the only other pictures of him I have he's of a lower rank. There's no dates on the back of any of the pictures. I do have a picture of Uncle Hansi's wife holding a picture of Uncle Hansi, in that picture I believe he has the rank of Obergefreiter and judging on how old my Oma is in that picture, it's probably from 1940.
