What LW Day fighter pilots have been interviewed...

It's a fairly ODD question; but other than Galland & Rall, have any other Luftwaffe Day Fighter Pilots been interviewed In the English Language Media as part of a Movie or Documentary? I recall ONE time I saw Werner Schroer on 'World At War' back in 1972;

Thx

There was a video series called "Hunters in the Sky" from about 1996 which had interviews in German (with English over dubbed) from Hrabak, Steinhoff, Krupinski, Hartmann, Marquardt, among others. Some very poignant moments...

It is available from several places.

Hi,
I recall that Ulrich Steinhilper was shown recently on the History channel as part of a documentary on the Battle of Britain. (possibly Spitfire Ace?).

I remembered 'Hunters in the Sky' AFTER I posted; funny how nearly ALL of those LW persons were affiliated in some way with JG52; Now Freytag is a rare case--kind of like Schroer;

I think Freytag joined the Foreign Legion after the war, if memory serves me.

Nick:

A DVD documentary Nazi Number One: Hermann Goring was released in Australia, which featured his home movies, many shot in colour.

As well as Rall, the film included interviews with Julius Meimberg, Hans-Ekkehard Bob and two pilots who flew on the ramming mission against the 8th Air Force on the 7 April 1945 (German language interviews with English subtitles). Meimberg's interview included an account about him receiving, while recuperating from a wound in late 1944, a gramophone record of Goring's abuse of his fighter pilots for their failings.
