Lt. Robert H. Knapp 83FS/78FG

Hello
Iam looking for information on Lt. Robert H.Knapp who flew the P-47D's with the 83FS/78FG over the ETO, this pilot was credited with one kill a FW-190 and possibly some ground kills. There is a myth about this pilot putting a P-47D in a high velocity dive something like 700mph.

Pilot return to the USA and helped trained the 201st Mexican Fighter Squadron at Pocatello AAFB Idaho and later Majors field ,Greenville Texas
from 1944 to 1945. In Section I under the command of Capt. Paul B.Miller who was later replaced by Lt. Col.A.W.Kellond.

Any help welcomed
Santiago

I presume this info came from Aces & Pilots of the 8th and 9th Airforces by Jerry Scutts, Ian Allan Publishing 2001?

If not then there is a photo of the pilot on Page 40

Larry
the note came from sources on the history of the 201st Mexican fighter Squadron, after the end of the war.

Cheers
