Fronteinsätze eines Stuka-Fliegers - the Mediterranean and the Eastern Front 1943-44

In this documentary from the series "Der Krieg von unten - The War of the bottom" the person described, Fritz, is born in 1921. In 1940, he joined the Luftwaffe. After basic training in the pilot training regiment 24 in Wischau / Moravia follows the NCO course in Szczecin and use on the airfield Penzing. The flight training Fritz is given 1941/42 on the pilot school in Gdansk, on the Stukavorschule in Bad Aibling and Stukaschule in Kitzingen. 1943 Fritz is set to Athens-Kalamaki. From July 1943 he was stationed in Group I. StG 3 in Megara. Fritz flew sorties against targets in Kefalonia, Corfu, Leros and Samos, as well as against the Royal Navy warships in the Aegean Sea. In 1944, the Group I Battle Squadron 3 is moved to the Eastern Front. On 30 March 1944 was shot down and killed in his 78th sortie by Russian flak. The work was written based on flight logs of Fritz. It exemplifies the training and enemy flights of a Ju 87 pilots. As the Stukas usually flew in the group context, the fate of a single Stuka pilot here is an example on the use of the whole group I. StG 3 and after renaming Schlachtgeschwader 3 between September 1943 and March 1944. Author: Hans Peter Eisenbach, with a scholarly introduction by Christian Möller . In the book all the pages of Fritz his "Flugbuch" with the "Feindflüge" combat missions are reproduced.
