Re: Hans Johann Stollnberger

Hi JP

45 'kills' may be too high for Stollenberger, only two are found on the micro films and they are likely to be numbers 1 & 2 whilst a Fahnrich:-

22.06.41 P-40 at 2010hrs
23.06.41 SB- at 0745hrs

Usually the micro films would hold all claims after July 1942, though it varies from staffel to staffel. He might very well still be alive.

Johannes

Hello Johannes

thank you very much for your assistance.

According to its Soldbuch and its diploma of EK I (July 31, 1941) it is well with the rank of Fahnrich.
That agrees with your data.
20 victories at October 14, 1942
but how to find the others ???
This pilot is always alive but he refuses to speak about this period.

Best regards

Johannes,

Can you tell us to which Staffel of II.(S)/LG 2 Stollnberger belonged to in 1941?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Hans Johann Stollnberger

4./LG2 is correct, what's more is that if Stollenberger remained with this Staffel until the end of 1941, then these were his only claims for that year. The Micro films themselves seem to have been made up in early 1945 from all available documents available at the time, there are later documents in the Bundes archiv for 1945 in paper form, that mention only the claims for high scoring pilots i.e Erich Hartmann(327-328), or another area to search would be the Abschusseborde of his Staffel, or more likely photograph's of them. Unfortunately for us who live and breath the airwar many pilots would like to forget, and it was a short spell of there life!

Regards

Johannes
