MM516 NFXIII 29 Lost height after slow roll while low flying and hit ground Bishops Stortford Herts. 1.7.44

but there must have been a second one in april 1945:
"... Another plane I remember that crashed in that area was a twin engined Mosquito. Already on fire, it passed low over our heads and trees flying along the top of Cricketfield Lane, and came down just past the western end of Silver Leys setting fire to cereal crop. This was very likely one of two De Haviland Mosquitos recorded as crashing near Bishop's Stortford – this particular one crashing in April 1945 ... Re: Raf ww2 crash history

There is a Mossie crash site in the field adjacent to the concrete water tower near Bishops Stortford adjacent to the motorway?? whose number eludes me.... I metal detected here 26 years ago and found cannon shells, wooden splinters with screws and plexiglas here...guess this is one of the two crashes you guys are referring to.....Julian
