Operation Thesis

Can anyone tell me about operation Thesis on crete 23 Jul 1943? I have read that the RAF took some heavy casualties but otherwise I don't think I have ever read an account of it. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

James,

Brian Cull posted the same query on RAF Commands a while back in the year of our lord, two thousand and seven. Here's the link. Hope it answers...something.

Dear James

There are some details of the operation in a couple of my books. In Fighting High - World War Two - Air Battle Europe, Volume 1 there is an article on the loss of a 454 Squadron Baltimore, and I also covered Ken 'Hawkeye' Lee's experiences of the raid in the book 'Five of the Few' (shot down and captured).
These may help.

Re: Operation Thesis

Hello James,
You can find information about the operation in the book "Alamein to the Alps" by Air Commodore Mark Lax. It is available to download at:
http://www.454-459squadrons.org.au/downloads.html
Of course it concentrates on the involvement of No.454 Sqn but there are also some general information about the raid.

Re: Operation Thesis

Thesis or Theseus? What's the proper spelling of this op? In volume II of the Royal Air Force 1939-45, "The Fight Avails", Richards and Saunders have it in the index as Theseus.
