Wellington loss May 28th, 1944
 
Gentlemen, I'm looking for details about a Vickers Wellington loss on May 28th, 1944 in the area of St.Poelten (west of Vienna), Austria. According withnesses the crash happened late on evening approx. 10 p.m. Only one crewmember survived with serious wounds. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks. - Kurtl

Are you sure it was 28th May ? 142 Sqn lost Wellington LN318/X 30-5-1944 00.30 hrs at Hofstetten near Pölten, E of Graz. All crew baled out and landed safe in the Bischofstetten - Kilb area. Target was Feuersbrunn.

According new investigation results this aircraft have been one of the lost Wimpy's (Vickers Wellington X) on July 7th, 1944 on the raid against Feuersbrunn. Standby for further information soon...
