Just to be clear.

You are asking about a WW2 crash of a Curtiss C-46 Commando?

Chinook,

Perhaps you refer to a C-46 crash in April 1945.

I remember that I once opened a thread on armyairforces.com about it: see

I do have full reports of a number of different incidents in Sussex that may relate to what you are looking for.

Certainly there are incidents at Wilmington (East Sussex) that may be what you seek - but why/what points you towards Wilmington?

Spitfire serial is a bit unclear still (possibly ML232) the 'Dakota' has been identified as actually C-46 Commando 44-77604. May 10th 1945

Google 44-77604
