'Diver' Operations June - August 1944

With the first V1 attacks in June 1944, certain squadrons such as 418 RCAF were tasked with combating this threat.

Does anyone have access to the records of who shot down V1s and when.

Is there an AIR record at Kew which might help me with this enquiry. I'm look basically for combat reports from these successful aircrews.

Many thanks,

David.

Hi David,

418 Sqn begun Anti-Diver patrols on 16/17 June, and claimed 3-1-0 V1s first night. The score opened Don MacFadyen DFC.
When I searched the 91 Sqn because of my article, I found nothing in CRs, but was successful in ORB. Times and locations are mentioned there.

Regards,
Michal

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for the information. I will see if Brian's book is still available. Perhap's if Brian is viewing he can tell me.

Any chance of knowing where to find the ORBs you mentioned, or under which AIR file they can be found.

Once again, many thanks for the help,

David.

Hi David

Best bet (and cheapest) is to have a look on Amazon.

I can honestly say that this book is the best on the subject available and recommend any serious researcher to check it out.
