Do18 loss off the south coast of Ireland 15.09.40

I am looking for information on a Do18 K6+FL wrk nr. 810 of 3./KuFIGR 406 which crashed off the south coast of Ireland on September 15 , 1940 . This flying boat crashed during take-off , earlier it and two other Do18's were seen landing on the sea .The crew were rescued from the sea by their kamerads . I would be very grateful for any help , thanks.

The question has been asked before on this forum, to save people repeating themselves.

hi, This has always been a difficult one to solve. There is no file on this incident in Irish military Archives in Dublin. even though it was observed by the Look Out Posts in that area. I imagine that the answer will have to found somewhere in the German archives.
schnellmeyer, do we know one and other? Justin-----the Kingdom ??

Hi Tony , thanks for your post .I guess I will just have to try my friend in Germany to see if he can help me . Tony if this incident was observed by the LOP was there any mention of it in their log book ?

Justin " The Kingdom " .

Re: Do18 loss off the south coast of Ireland 15.09.40

Justin,
There is no record in Irish sources that I know of that records this incident. We do not have a time frame, the DRS reports do not mention it but do list that LOP's Carnsore and Greenore reported a few incidents of two aircraft flying in an easterly course but that is all. This prompts me to question from what source did the incident originate from. Perhaps your German contact may be able to help.If the three Do18's were holding on the sea to the south of the Saltees, it would have been difficult to observe them from the LOP's.
Regards
Tony K
