Loss MS-406 on May 22 1940

Hallo,

Probably Air Gunner of one Stuka of 9./St.G. 2 claimed one MS-406 on May 22 1940 at 20:25 ten kilometers SE of St.Omer, France. Could somebody tell me more about this situation? Was it larger attack of MS-406s on Stuka Formation? Is known who was involved? Is known possibly victim of Air Gunner Fw. Salendin? Is known more about Fw. Salendin?

Thanks for help

Michal

Michal,

Fw Salendin's claim you're looking for is indeed mentioned in several victory and/or ace lists.
No Morane victim however on 22 May 1940 in the St. Omer area (nor anywhere else...) in Cornwell's "The Battle of France then and now".

On the other hand 9./StG 2 suffered a Stuka loss, but this one was attributed to (possibly) a Hurricane of 145 Squadron.

Regards,

Leendert

Thanks. Is known more about this Stuka loss? Or about possible combat between Stukas and No 145 Squadron at evening May 22 1940?

Once again thanks

Michal
