Kommandeur III / KG26

Hello,

Hauptmann Eberhard Stuewe was Kommandeur of III / KG26 till his death on 7 june 1944 ; can someone tell me who was his successor till dissolution of KG77 in JULY 1944 ?

Regards

Claude

A search of our officer career files reveals no known successor to Stuewe after his death. Presumably there would be at least one acting Kommandeur until dissolution of the unit in the summer of 1944, but I cannot find one.

Perhaps someone out there can shed some light on this.

The name I gave came from records from KG 77 and is backed up by his signature on the NVMs (albeit as Stellv) so he must have moved from being 3 St Kap after the death of his predecessor

Chris, your statement seems to fit what we know about these units. It appears that Harseim, while Kommandeur of III./KG 26, was also likely the acting Kommandeur of III./KG 77 in July 1944 while it was being dissolved. Apparently both were at Orange - Plan de Dieu, with some crews going to the newly formed I./KG 26.
