Re: Thomas Lynch 1085258
Hello Michel
This airmans name is listed in the English General Register Office RAF overseas War Deaths lsits as being with 302 S & TC (302 Supply & Transport Column) his name si also listed in RAF Casuatly Communique No. 515 DIED OF WOUNDS OR INJURIES RECEIVED ON ACTIVE SERVICE.—L.A/C. T. Lynch. Published in Flight magazine June 14th 1945. http://www.flightglobal.com/pdfarchive/index.html The rank of Leading Aircrafman was a non flying in the RAF from about 1942. i.e. persons flying as pilots or gunners or radio operators etc had to be at least Sergeant rank. transport aircraft might have had Coporal ranks onboard in 1945 if flying transport missions. And of course there woudl eb other exceptions. The important thing here is that the unit listed for him is a ground based unit. His status of dying of wounds or injuries ON ACTIVE SERVICE indicates to me that he might have been cought in shelling or a air attack. |
