Need help with ID of Bf110 "S9+CK"

Hi gents!

This a/c from 2./SKG210 or 2./Erpr.Gr.210 (or even 2./ZG1), crashlanded.

It has no EasternFront fuselageband, so it could be most probably from 2./Erpr.Gr.210. But I dont see corresponding losses in list of damage/losses, no S9+LK or S9+CK wich could fit this a/c. It is not S9+LK of Uffz. Baltazar Aretz, as it was little damaged. It is not Uffz. Hermann Strobel's a/c, as it was s/d in Channel.

If it is from 2./SKG210 (Lt. Walter Klöß's S9+LK) - so why it has no Eastern Front Band?

It is unlikly that it is 2./ZG1 a/c, because it has no Eeast. Fr. Fus. Band, and no Wespe on nose.

Any ideas?

Evgeny,

There is a further photo of this Bf 110 in my Classic book volume 2. At the time I attributed it to 2./SKG 210. However, I am open to ideas on that point, and would offer the following.

1. It is an 'E' variant, but was fitted with DB 601 A engines (from the photo in the Classic book). The photo in the Classic book shows this Bf 110 has a standard rear fuselage.

2. It could be Bf 110 E, S9+EK, W. Nr. 4209, of Aretz and Schilleng which returned damaged to Calais-Marck after combat over London on 5th October 1940.

3. It could be Bf 110 E-2, W. Nr. 3782, of Tillheim/Patzer on 4th June 1941 which crashed on take-off at Bretigny. There would most likely be no Russian front fuselage band applied at this time.

On balance, I would go for Tillheim/Patzer's Bf 110 of 2./SKG 210. But I wouild be interested to see other's views.

Not sure about this, but when crashing on take-off should the a/c have already feathered propeller (left engine)?

Yes, left prop blade is undamaged, as it should be when engine is running.
But for other hand, it could be engine problem (stopped) causes that crash.

Not only undamaged but also positioned parallel to airflow, but as I only flew gliders in my life so I do not know if it is a practice and sufficient time to feather the prop when there is engine failure on take-off...

Only a suggestion, but it could be prop pitch mechanism mulfunction, cause stopping of engine.
